Six out of seven visitors to the EDYPRO stand has prioritized the quality and flavor of tomatoes managed with EDYPRO's biotechnology over tomatoes of the same variety managed conventionally.

In addition to conducting intensive research aimed at improving productivity in challenging situations, EDYPRO is focusing on improvement of the nutritional and organoleptic characteristics of fruits and vegetables handled with their solutions.

The company, which was present last week at Infoagro Exhibition, has gathered at its stand numerous customers from the Almería area and people interested in the Tomres project, about which EDYPRO has been reporting as a participant in it.

Thus, the first field results of the experiments being carried out in the province of Almería within the European project TOMRES have been presented, whose objective is to increase tolerance to combined stress –water and nutritional– in tomato cultivation for Maximize water and nutrient use efficiency and ensure maximum productivity.

The experiences are being carried out carried out at the facilities of the Tecnova Foundation Technological Institute and has been compared in two different situationsThe plants were subjected to stress and managed according to their water and nutritional needs. Additionally, the performance of grafted plants on two rootstocks was compared: a commercial rootstock and a rootstock developed within the Tomres Project.

There are 2 biotechnological products being applied within the project: Coupe Regeneration Plus which increases the soil's cation exchange capacity and allows for better utilization of applied fertilizers, and Root Procurement, solution that significantly improves the formation of flower bouquets and flowers, increases the level of pollen in the flower and activates the activity of pollinating insects –bees and bumblebees–.

During these days, Researchers from the University of the Balearic Islands have measured on the plots of Tecnova's 400-meter extension The measurement of photosynthesis in these crops with the aim of observing CO2 assimilation2 in the plant's photosynthetic activity. This parameter shows the productive potential of each crop.

In the Tomres project, EDYPRO It participates alongside 24 research entities including universities, research centers, companies and agricultural associations from all over Europe. Tomres is an initiative co-financed within the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Community.

Their stand at Infoagro Exhibition hosted a tasting of tomatoes of the same variety, managed differently; in the usual way and with the use of EDYPRO's biotechnology.. In this case, the company's objective has been to demonstrate how a distinctive flavor can be achieved in fruits managed through biotechnology.

Likewise, they have offered melons and watermelons grown in the Almería area and managed with the company's biotechnology so that visitors to the fair can see how the organoleptic quality of the fruits is improved.
