The economic situation, not only nationally but globally, has led to a reduction in mobility and air travel during these months due to COVID-19. Although many countries have already begun the de-escalation phase, the exact stage each Autonomous Community will be in in the coming months, when the holiday season arrives, remains uncertain.
In this sense, and since in EDYPRO We have always advocated for agriculture, and on this occasion we also advocate for local agritourism.
Agritourism is a type of tourism that aims to show tourists the production process on farms and ranches. It involves staying in rural areas, away from large cities, in homes where the owners offer activities that allow visitors to connect with the agricultural and rural world.
Among this type of tourism we can find wine tourism, gastronomic tourism, ecological tourism or ecotourism, or olive oil tourism.
The Iberian Peninsula is very rich in terms of crop diversity and landscapes, and that is why this year agritourism can offer us many possibilities;
-Relaxation in contact with nature; This type of tourism provides us with oxygen, which is beneficial not only for plants but also for people. When traveling to rural areas, the important thing is to disconnect from routine, the stress generated by cities and electronic devices. In this way, the rural environment helps us regain physical and psychological balance.
-Harvest the fruit you've been taking care of for days and be able to pick it directly from the tree, without intermediaries. This brings great satisfaction, as you can be present in all the processes of caring for your crop or making some natural food on nearby farms.
-A wide variety of offers. Depending on the region you choose in Spain, you can enjoy wine tourism, visiting wineries and learning about the entire winemaking process, from harvesting to bottling. Alternatively, you can experience olive oil tourism, visiting olive mills and farmhouses, or enjoying traditional miller's lunches. If you're near Almería, you can also enjoy its fertile land, which boasts an average of 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, and savor some of its typical crops, such as tomatoes.
-Learning for children in contact with nature. This is a wonderful experience for young children, who can learn about crops firsthand, understand the value of the environment, and develop an appreciation and interest in caring for and respecting it. And in most cases, they can even water and tend to their own crops.
-With agritourism we help to protect the environment and the sustainability of rural areas. This type of tourism has a low environmental impact since most of the activities practiced in it seek interaction with the environment and its community, the protection and conservation of nature and its historical monuments and therefore its durability in the activity.
-To learn about new cultures. Agritourism allows those who enjoy it to learn about cultures different from urban culture and, therefore, acquire greater knowledge about our environment and other ways of life.
In EDYPRO in addition to advising on the best biotechnological treatments for your crops, Thanks to our extensive experience and knowledge of crops, we can point you to some of the areas where agritourism thrives in its purest form, such as the Ebro Delta, Almería, Sierra de Córdoba, Jaén, Ribera del Duero, La Rioja and its wineries, or the Murcian orchard.
